On September 12, New England Home Magazine hosted the Five under Forty Awards at the Landry & Arcari showroom, on Stuart Street in Boston.
The awards spotlight the hottest emerging talent in residential design in New England, including the fields of architecture, home-design products and accessories, interiors, furniture and-NEW this year-landscape design!
The winner in each field was given the chance to design a custom rug, which was then produced by Landry & Arcari, the event’s presenting sponsor. The rugs were auctioned off at the event, with the proceeds benefitting Barakat. Each year, the event benefits one of Barakat’s unique educational programs. This year, the proceeds went to support Human Rights Teacher Training Workshops in Afghanistan. The five one-week-long workshops train the area teachers, community leaders and religious leaders to incorporate tenets of children and women’s rights into their everyday work and life. The five workshops in 2012 educated 100 attendees, who then reached out to more than 5,000 community members.
The event has become a must-attend gathering in Boston since its inception! The award ceremony was followed by a live auction of the five rugs, each one unique and stunningly creative! The evening featured delicious appetizers, cocktails and wines, along with plenty of networking opportunities.
Barakat sincerely appreciates New England Home, the host of this event, and Landry & Arcari, a long-time supporter of our mission and programs. Thanks to everyone who attended the event and supported Barakat!
